A new version of feature rich module to present related items for K2 is ready to be delivered to our clients. In this update we added a new filter by featured items and accordingly a new ordering of the items in the module display. We know that some of our clients are looking forward to use this option.

New features:

• Filter by featured items;
• New ordering as in featured items manager;
• Include/Exclude current K2 categories.

Improved:

• Columns layout now can work when loaded in an initially hidden container;
• PostgreSQL random ordering error is fixed.

Filter by featured items

Featured items in widely used by Joomla users to mark some K2 items for some reasons, e.g. to display them separately.

Starting with this module version you get a new filter by featured items, which basically means three options.

Featured Items:

• Show with other - the module will search among both featured and standard items;
• Only featured items show - the module will search only among featured items;
• Hide - exclude featured items from the module search.

Include/Exclude current K2 categories

The previous versions of RAXO Related K2 Items module allowed you to include/exclude selected categories from the module search area. We decided to add the same flexibility to current category, which now you can include or exclude. So, if you decide to exclude current category, the module will show you related items from any other K2 categories on your site but not from the current K2 category.

Well, how you can use that. Let's say, you have a site about local musicians. There is a category "News" where you post news about all musicians and bands. Also, there are other categories with interviews, discographies, etc. When you post some news about a certain musician, you don't want to show your readers similar but outdated news. Instead, you can exclude current category "News", and the module will suggest related articles from other site categories, i.e. this musician's interviews, his biography, discography, and anything else about this person available on your site.
