Today we release a new version of RAXO Related Articles Joomla module. Main thing you gain with this update is date filtration options. These new filters will be of much use on your Joomla site because they will let you form dynamically changing list of related articles that will always provide a fresh set of related content. See more details inside.
New features:
- Powerful and flexible date filtering:
Predefined date filters or specify date range with start and end dates;
Relative date range to the current day.
Improved:
- Fix for image search algorithm in article text (in some cases text images were not recognized, and the module used default images instead);
- NullDates can be different across databases.
Filtrate Related Articles by Date
This utterly useful feature allows you easily retrieve related articles from a specific date or date range. We did our best to provide filtering by date with many options. See what variants you have.
Predefined Date Filters:
- today - show related articles only for the current day;
- this week - show related articles only for the current week;
- this month - show related articles only for the current month;
- this year - show related articles only for the current year.
For your convenience we made most popular and most needed date intervals as predefined date filters. So just need to select which one suits your case.
Specify Date Range:
- start date - retrieve related articles dated after the specified date;
- end date - retrieve related articles dated before the specified date.
Here you can set your own time interval for related articles. Note: it is not necessary to set both dates. If you specify only one of them, the module is still able to do the job. For example, if you set only start date (2015.11.01), RAXO Related Articles retrieves articles from the period starting with this specified date and up to the current date.
Relative Date Range:
- from X days ago - start day of the range relative to the current day;
- to X days ago - end day of the range relative to the current day.
The main feature of the relative date range is that it doesn't use fixed calendar dates. The start and the end of this date range are tied to the current date. Since the current day moves forward with every new calendar day, relative date range also changes the same way.
There is at least one serious reason to use these date filters. Sure, many of you know such a situation: the list of popular articles keeps being visited with every new user, and with the time it only grows in popularity but actually becomes dead because it's always the same list of popular items. Smart use of date filters will let you avoid that - the module will automatically exclude old entries and show your visitors only new and up-to-date content.
