Presales Questions on Extension Limitations

Post by Mr_Anonymous »

Hi,

I am considering to buy RAXO All-mode PRO extension. First of all I would like to say that this extension looks really awesome and I am looking forward to purchasing it. I am new to Joomla and I am currently re-creating my website and moving to Joomla 3.3. At the moment, I am still playing around Joomla in my Localhost so I can get a hang of it. I do have a few questions related to your RAXO extension and I am hoping you can assist me on this:

a) At the moment, I have still not decided if I am going to use Joomla's content creation for my website's articles or am I going to go with K2. I noticed that you have both of these extensions available. My question is, if I was to buy your standard version of "RAXO All-mode PRO" and then later decided that I am actually going to go with K2 in my production site, would I then be able to download the "RAXO All-mode K2" version? Do I need to purchase that separately or would you allow me to exchange the standard version to the K2 version later?

b) Once I purchase the correct version, do I still need to purchase the future versions you may release for this extension separately or can I download that for free since I have purchased it once already? Is there any expiration for this update eligibility?

c) Does your support have an expiration period from the date of purchase? What are the conditions here?

d) Is your extension encoded?

e) What I love above your extension is the way it displays the articles with image + info. That is exactly what I am excited about this. But my question is, can I only use this layout for categories list page? Meaning, when I list the articles in the Joomla Categories page, I dont like the layout of the Joomla's default options for Alternative Layout (with Blog and List). I don't want to list my articles in blog style and would love to use the template that your extension provides. So can RAXO's layout be used for Category pages too to list the articles in that category or can this only used for the news modules that this ext adds? Can you explain this for me please? Or do I need to create a separate article page that uses this module to show the articles from a particular category instead of trying to style the category page and linking it to menu?

f) If the above is possible, then is pagination automatically applied for all templates? In other words, if I am using RAXO to display all articles in that category, would pagination show up if the article number is more than the limit that can be shown in that page? How does it work?

g) Similar to the above, I also want the Main category page to show its sub-categories with the image + info style your ext template provides. So this page will only show the sub-categories nicely listed without listing the articles. Can I achieve something like that with this extension too or do I need to create a separate template for this as per the Joomla's docs? Can you give me some ideas on this please?

h) After I purchase your extension, am I able to test this on my localhost or does the domain name need to match the license in order for it to work? Would it also work in sub-domains or do I need to mention this during purchasing? Because once I test it in locahost, I will then try it on my live developmental site that is like dev.mysite.com.

i) Once I purchase it, can I use it in 2 of my sites? I own 1 website at the moment and I am planning to create a new sister site next year. Do I need to purchase a separate license for that or since I am owner of both and I have already purchased the license to use this, am I allowed to use this extension on both sites?

j) I noticed that your extension can also show the number of comments for an article. Is it only compatible with any particular comments extension in order for it to work if I am not using K2? How does that work?

k) Lastly, does this extension and the add-on templates work with Joomla 3.3 release? And would you be releasing newer versions for Joomla 3.5, etc.. in the future?

Thank you for taking the time to read through my questions and I apologise for a long list. I am eagerly waiting for your response.

a) My question is, if I was to buy your standard version of "RAXO All-mode PRO" and then later decided that I am actually going to go with K2 in my production site, would I then be able to download the "RAXO All-mode K2" version? Do I need to purchase that separately or would you allow me to exchange the standard version to the K2 version later?
RAXO All-mode PRO and RAXO All-mode K2 are separate products and should be purchased separately. However, once you become our client, you are entitled for a special client discount for purchasing another module.
b) Once I purchase the correct version, do I still need to purchase the future versions you may release for this extension separately or can I download that for free since I have purchased it once already? Is there any expiration for this update eligibility?

c) Does your support have an expiration period from the date of purchase? What are the conditions here?
Our policy is very client friendly, so that with RAXO you could be sure that you have a solid time frame for updates and support.

We described that in FAQs on the module purchase page. See e.g. http://www.raxo.org/raxo-all-mode-pro/pricing.html
d) Is your extension encoded?
No.
e) What I love above your extension is the way it displays the articles with image + info.
Yes, you can use our modules for category pages. On our support forum you’ll find a detailed instruction how to do that. But you should be aware that our product is a Joomla module and has some restrictions in this connection. Since modules in Joomla are not used to display unlimited content, we recommend to display maximum 200 items per module instance.
f) If the above is possible, then is pagination automatically applied for all templates? In other words, if I am using RAXO to display all articles in that category, would pagination show up if the article number is more than the limit that can be shown in that page? How does it work?
No, not all templates have pagination. You can have pagination only in the templates that have this feature in description (All-mode Pagination, All-mode Portal).
g) Similar to the above, I also want the Main category page to show its sub-categories with the image + info style your ext template provides. So this page will only show the sub-categories nicely listed without listing the articles.
You describe a standard Joomla function (to list sub-categories without listing the articles). We could give you some guidelines how to do that.
But our module doesn’t show subcategory lists, it’s designed to show article lists.
h) After I purchase your extension, am I able to test this on my localhost? Would it also work in sub-domains or do I need to mention this during purchasing?...

i) Once I purchase it, can I use it in 2 of my sites? Do I need to purchase a separate license for that or since I am owner of both and I have already purchased the license to use this, am I allowed to use this extension on both sites?...
With Single or Lifetime plans you’re free to use our products on as many your own websites as you like. Only Developer plan entitles you to apply our extensions for your clients and get support for our products used on your client websites.
j) I noticed that your extension can also show the number of comments for an article. Is it only compatible with any particular comments extension in order for it to work if I am not using K2? How does that work?
Our modules support the most popular Joomla commenting systems. You can see the list of the supported systems on the feature page for each module:
http://www.raxo.org/raxo-all-mode-pro/features.html
http://www.raxo.org/raxo-all-mode-k2/features.html
k) Lastly, does this extension and the add-on templates work with Joomla 3.3 release? And would you be releasing newer versions for Joomla 3.5, etc.. in the future?
Our module is declared to support Joomla 3.x, meaning it will support 3.4, 3.5 and so on Joomla versions. If updates needed for that, they will be released.
The templates are universal. Whatever Joomla version the modules are compatible with, the templates are compatible with this Joomla too.
