The first article shows in one column the next articles in two columns (10 articles). Please see the image positions.
Can I insert banners between articles (show a banner every 3 articles)?

Yes, the module can do that.
Module output is logically divided into two parts - TOP items and items. You can set their number and their content elements (like title, thumbnail size, number of comments, date, etc) separately. So you can easily display one column with TOP items and two columns with items.
The module is packed with four built-in module templates. All-mode Columns is the most suitable to display content in columns. See how it looks here:
