Update
RAXO All-mode PRO J1.5 v1.5.1

Joomla 1.5 version official support was over on 30 April 2012. But the Joomla team announced that version 1.5 will be monitored for security issues until September 2012, so if major security issues will appear until then, they will be addressed. This means that you have plenty of time to move to Joomla 2.5.

Our recommendation is still the same: do not delay moving your site to the newest Joomla version. At the same time, there are lots of Joomla sites that still use Joomla 1.5 and don't plan to change that in the near future. That's why we decided to release a new update for RAXO All-mode PRO J1.5. By this release we want to make our module for Joomla 1.5 more convenient and close in its functinality to the RAXO news module for Joomla 2.5.

New features:

Improved:

  • Number of TOP items & regular items are managed separately.
    Total number of displayed items is equal to the sum of these two values;
  • Completely made over image retrieval algorithm.
    Now it is faster and more consistent;
  • Transparent PNG Images Supported
    Thumbnails can be created from png images with transparent background.
  • Ordering by Rating
    If some articles have the same rating value, the article with higher number of votes go first.
  • Content multiple space clean-up is fixed;
  • Thumbnail library is updated to the latest version.
  • Some code improvements.

How to Update?
Information about how to update your RAXO All-mode PRO J1.7 module can be found in this INSTRUCTION on our Support Forum.We strongly recommend everyone to make a full backup of your site files and database before new version installation.

Show Non-public Content

This new feature will be extremely useful for sites that have a content restricted area, which usually require registration/sign up/membership/etc. to get access to this non-public content. The best way to encourage site visitors to register and join site community is to show short teasers of the hidden content. When a user sees a part of access restricted information he becomes really motivated to start registration immediately and get access to the full information.

Show Non-public Content

Current version of RAXO All-mode PRO J1.5 module can cope with this task. In module blocks you can show part of joomla access restricted articles publicly (for all visitors). When an anonymous user clicks title/read more link, he doesn't see hidden information but is redirected to registration/login form.

Exclude Articles

Another new cool feature in this update is an option to exclude some articles from the selected content that will be displayed in the module.

Exclude Articles

Sometimes you want to show one or several categories in the module block, but for some reason you don't want one or several items from the selected categories to be displayed. How to do that? Pretty easy. In module parameters you specify which articles you don't want to show up, and RAXO news module will exclude these items from the module output.

Thumbnails Inherit Original Image ALT and TITLE Attributes

Alt and Title attributes play an important role in site search engine optimisation (SEO). It is common knowledge which is often neglected.

Alt attribute is used to specify alternative information that should be shown if an image is missing, or cannot be downloaded. Also it is very important for SEO because it describes your images to search engine and when a user searches for a certain image this is a key determining factor for a match.

Title attribute plays a less important role in SEO, but it is beneficial for site visitors as this text automatically pops-up when mouse is over the image.

This news module version has full support for ALT and TITLE attributes. The module will always generate SEO friendly thumbnails if you specify ALT and TITLE attributes for your images.
